Pan Am Games Taking Taxpayers to the (Car) Wash

Author: Christine Van Geyn 2015/07/24

Taxpayers are being taken to the wash by the Pan Am Games - literally.

Documents obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation reveal that by May 2015, the Games had spent over $10,000 washing it's borrowed fleet of vehicles. That's two months before the games even began.

It's not usual to wash a rented car, but when it's taxpayer money the Pan Am Games doesn't seem to mind that they're throwing money down the drain.

Now that the games are underway, Pan Am vehicles can be seen regularly going through the Big Wax car wash at Front and Parliament.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation requested updated figures, but the communication representatives for the Pan Am Games refused to provide an update, stating that CTF would need to make an additional request under the Freedom of Information Act.
